Can I file a lawsuit to get money back from my ex?

I would like to ask you some advise about my situation. I have known my boyfriend for 10 years. For the past ten years, I financially helped him to pursue his career. Now he became a pilot and he suddenly married someone else. He verbally promised me in the past to pay me back and now he emailed me about the news and also asking me to send him all copies of the reciepts to him for the debt estimate.

I honestly do not want to deal with him as he lied to me, cheated on me, used me to pursue his career and now he is asking me that I have to wait for his payment as he doesnt have money now.

I want to see if I am able to file a lawsuit against him to get my money back. It is not a small amount of money that I can just go to the small claim court. and I am emotionally hurted when I found out he borrowed my money to buy her a ring.
