Nope. Every state has very specific guidelines on how to evict someone. It's important to keep in mind that only the court can grant an actual eviction. Without such a judgement a landlord simply cannot do a "self-eviction"; this is illegal.

The steps usually involve giving the tenant notice that they have a certain number of days to pay their rent (if they owe rent) or to vacate the premises. For example, if someone does not have a written lease they are considered to be "month the month" renters; i.e., their tenancy begins the first day of each month and ends on the last day of the month. The tenancy can be ended (usually) with a 30 day notice. No reason need be given.

If the renter is not out within the time period allowed by the state, the landlord then has to file for eviction through the court system. A hearing will be set up and both sides will have a chance to present their side of the story. If the judge grants the eviction a time will be set up where this will be carried out.
