I entered a verbal contract with a photographer in texas on march 20, 2009 and gave him a deposit. My wedding is on july 10,2010. They said they will send me a contract later in time to sign and I said okay. They never sent me a contract so I went with someone else. I told these people that I would like my deposit back but he told me NO. (every other customer signed a contract with them but me).They told me that I can't have the deposit back and that is final. Can I get my deposit back since it wasnt within a year. or am I out 300 dollars. The deal was for 1800.

I'd send them a letter warning them they will be sued and also for additional damages since there is no reasonable dispute... and you may want to tell them that you'll be happy to let everyone know your experience too. That will cost them far more than the $300 they are trying to wrongfully withhold. Congratulations on your wedding!
