Medical Malpractice Can I have two (or more) lawsuits at the same time?

My initial accident was a slip and fall and my lawyer has sued the homeowner.
However, subsequently several medical professionals (including TWO orthopedic surgeons) have caused and/or contributed to significant additional injuries. I'm worse off now than I was before the first surgery.

My lawyer is telling me that it's harder to win a medical malpractice suit than a premises liability case, and that the premises liability case will have to pay for ALL damages including those caused by malpractice. I find that hard to believe. Is he correct?

For the premises liability, there is a chance that I will be found partly liable for falling and in my state my award will be adjusted accordingly. However, the medical malpractice is pretty clear. So it seems safer to me to go the medical malpractice route.

Can I ask him to file suit for medical malpractice right now? (My current case is in the discovery phase and will go to arbitration next)
Can I hire a different attorney to represent me on the medical malpractice?
Can I shoo...never mind.
