I want to sue my ex boyfriend for a 1/2 million dollars. We lived together on and off for 17 years, and I signed his checks numerous times. After we broke up, he stopped payment on a check I wrote with his permission which ultimately resulted in me going to prison at the age of 53. He lied in order to be able to press charges against me.
My future is destroyed because of this forgery felony on my record.
CAN I SUE HIM?

You can sue him. But it won't work, and you'll likely be ordered to pay his court costs, too.

The burden will be on you to show that you had his permission.

So, what do you have?

Agree, very doubtful you will win & you did sign his check - can you prove you had permission?

I assume you raised your past relationship and the fact you had signed these checks at your trial? And, you were found guilty? Was your conviction overturned?

If found guilty or if you pled guilty then you will be virtually impossible for you to sue him for a crime that you have been found guilty of committing. If you have many thousands of dollars sitting around to throw at this, well, it's your money to waste. But, based on what little you wrote, I don't see you stand a chance.
