I was recently hired by an airline as a flight attendant pending a successful background check. The company hired by the airline to conduct the background checks reported incorrect information about me. They redid my background check and resubmitted the correct info but by then the airline had already disqualified me and closed my file. Can I sue the background company for costing me a job by reporting incorrect information?

You van sue anyone you target.

But, suing isn't the issue.

You need to ask if you can prevail.

Probably not, in your case.

The agency had you sign a release form.

That excuses them for making errors and you agreed to hold them harmless if they did.

So, I doubt that you'll prevail.

But, even if you do, don't expect a large award.

You'd probably take a $1.00, maybe $2.00, if you did prevail.

More than likely they'd offer you $200 (or so), to leave them alone and go away.
