I loaned someone $2050.00. and there was not written agreement between us only verbal. $1800.00 was a loan and 400.00 was for furniture that he said he would pay back as well. This friend was having some financial problems so I loaned him the money and I told him that I could maybe give him some work... stuffing checks for me but I made it very clear to him regardless if no work was done that he would pay me back and he agreed and we shook hands. He lives in Austin so it was difficult to get him to do any work, so I asked him to pay me back and he said he would.
After several attempts I told him I would be willing to work out a payment plan with him so he would make payments to pay it off and he agreed. He finally paid $150.00 and after I sent him an email thanking him and letting him know the remaining balance. He sent a rude response saying he would just pay the whole thing off. I said that would be great, but have not seen a dime. I do have emails from him and I and he is agreeing to pay it back, but has not done so.
I sent him a demand letter and he has 2WEEKS to pay it or we are going to court.
Do I have any chance to win this??
It kills me to know that there are people out there who take advantage. We all work so hard for our money and dont have any to throw away these days.
