I had a verbal business agreement with my friend last year, that I was going to take over his exsiting lease for a coffee stand. I paid him a total of $16,000 in cash which includes the deposit and some fees that i paid for renewing some equipments. I did not receive any receipt.
Before signing any legal contract, i decided not to purchase and withdrawn from our aggrement, yet my friend told me i cannot receive any refund on my deposit.
Now this issue was over a year long, and i think i should take legal action to take my money back. But before i consult with an attorney, what's my chance of getting back the money since i did not have any receipt or firm evidence??
