My girlfriend and I have split up after living together for 14 years.
During this time she only worked approx. 3 months. Thus all the furniture, appliances and household items was purchased by me.
When I had her evicted from my house she took everything including dishes and linens, and also some of my personnal items.
Since we were not married can I take her to small claims court and get my posessions back?

Small claims court could help divide the stuff so she gets just what she owns or deserve. Some states give her 50% since you have been living together for so long……..they kinda give her marriage statues in such cases even if she did not work. They believe she contributed in other ways………… So check your states law. You can contest it if you feel she took more than need under your states provision. You can sue for the excess. But you guys have been involved for 14 years, is it really worth the money or time? The limits you can sue for in most small claims is around 5000$. You have to think if you can't let her go with that after all what you guys have been through together…….14 years. She could claim you bought them for her as gift…..that would make it harder to get the money or stuff. It is your call...........
