I have a friend that owned acreage with the ex-spouse. Their divorce just became final. The ex-spouse agreed to a settlement based on an amount she felt was fair, that was slightly more than the appraisal for the land. She walked away with half of this amount.
My friend is now selling a portion of the amount of land they had for almost half of the total amount the whole property appraised at (the appraisal was within the last year). In essence, she agreed to much less than the land actually sold for, even though the land was appraised at much less than it sold for.
Could she try and reopen the divorce case, or drag him back to court even though she agreed to take the dollar amount she agreed to? If she had known it could potentially sell for twice what she agreed it was worth, I am concerned she will try and go after him for the difference.
