Hi,
My husband received a speeding ticket in 95, we didnt have much money then as he was only an E-4 in the Navy. We didnt pay it, and we got transfered to Guam. When in Guam, i went to register our car, and it showed up, so I went to the district court house there and paid for the ticket. Then i returned to the DMV and registered the car. Then, just last month my daughter, husband, and I went on a trip to Vegas. Well he got pulled over for speeding (go figure), then the cop arrested him! Saying it was a warrant for an un-paid speeding ticket from 95! Well i bailed him out for $1490.00 And the cop told us if we could show a receipt for paying the ticket in Guam we should get our bail money back.Well we tore our apartment apart trying to find that little receipt and couldnt find it.But i had a friend who still lives in Guam, go to the court house and see what she can do. All they gave her was a copy of a "release" I guess. It doesnt say "paid" on it it just has info like the case number the date of the speeding ticket and then says-disposition:Guilty.
Can anyone tell me if we show this to the judge, would it be enough to prove that we paid it. The corrupt ****'s in Guam didn't send the money to NV. But i paid it! Please if anyone can help i would be very greatfull thanks.
