My friend was sleeping in the car while the state patrol arrested him for OWI.. he continued to sleep while he was put in the police car.. i was very worried then as I couldn't get a hold of him during the time he said he would call me and i kept calling his cell.. finally it was answered by the state patrol.. he hung up. i called again as i wasn't sure who answered.. then the state patrol answered again.. this time he didn't hang up.. he went ahead and told me he was the state patrol and that my friend was arrested for OWI at xxx road.. he told me he would be taken to dane county jail and would be kept there for 12 hours if no one picked him up.. the whole time he didn't ask who i was to my friend but gave out all the info.. when i asked if i could speak to my friend.. he said "i am afraid not.. he passed out in the back of my car"..
anyway. this happened in wisconsin.. just wondering if what the police did was legal.. to answer my friend's cell phone and to give out all the information like that..
any idea? appreciated!
