can the parents of a 17 y/o w/ a hs diploma make her come home if she leaves?

My jurisdiction is: new york

my friend just turned 17 on july 31st and she graduated this past june with an advanced designation regents diploma with honors... if she leaves home can her parents make her come back?

They most certainly can. As long as she is under 18, she lives where her parents say she lives. The law doesn't say, she's a legal adult when she's 18 or gets her high school diploma, whichever comes first; it says she's a legal adult when she's 18.
