i was arrested in my home where the police found less than 10 grams of meth and 2 scales they are charging me with possesion with the intent to sale but it was for personal use. what do i do i went to court today and they said the da wasnt done with my case is that a bad thing do i need to get an attorney or will a public defender be ok.i have 2 prior dui charges from 5 years ago please give me some advice befor i go to court next month

A public defender IS an attorney. If you can afford a private attorney, you will not qualify for a public defender.

10 grams and scales is likely all they need to make a case for sales. Anyone knowledgeable in the ways of the drug world can make a solid case for possession for sale based upon the amount you had in your possession as well as the scales - two indicia of sales.

Consult an attorney ASAP. Perhaps your state has a diversion program for possession ... if you get lucky, maybe your attorney can get it dropped to simple possession and thus make you eligible for a diversion program.
