The facility management wants to change from the normal removable hanging parking tag to a "peel-able" plastic sticker that must be displayed in the back left upper window. The issue is that the sticker has not just the name of the facility and our parking ID number, it also has the full address and the office number we work in.
Although the sticker is "removable" it is very cumbersome to get on and off based on the location. After so many times, it will fall off leaving us at risk of being towed. If we leave it on, we are driving around with an address view-able to all. We have asked if we could just black out the address and leave the permit number, name of facility etc on and were advised that if we did this, the permit was no longer valid.
We are very concerned for our safety? Can they force us to have a full work address adhered to our car?

What is required might not be legal, but it might get you into trouble with someone.

It might be time to seek greener pastures.

An easier solution would be to place the sticker on the vehicle by using a clear employee type badge cover. You could then comply, but take down the sticker when not on the premises.

An easier solution might be to park your vehicle on a nearby lot.

Paying for what you use always offers you many choices.

Yes, it'll cost you extra, but your fear would be immediately alleviated.

I agree it's a stupid idea, but many employers are stupid and those who work for a living have to accept that or seek employment elsewhere.

What do you think is going to happen if somebody sees your office address while you are at the grocery or someplace else? Will they write it down, go to your office, and shoot you?

Can they force us to have a full work address adhered to our car?

Can you be fired or towed if you don't comply?

If the answer is yes to either question, then the answer is yes to your question.

You are only being "forced" to do so if you want to park in the facility. If you prefer not to use the sticker, then you are free to park elsewhere. You do have a choice.

I can't imagine what safety risk you think there is by having the address on the sticker. If the name is there, anyone with a smart phone, access to the internet or a phone book can find the address easily anyway.
