What are the particulars for a life-long Canadian to obtain dual citizenship with USA for work-related matters? I have communications a company in USA that wants to move me there and employ me for several years related to some projects, but they can only hire US citizens. (Question #1 of application, are you a US citizen, as they are not setup to handle non-us citizens working there.. its .gov work and only US citizens)
Is it possible for a Canadian to aquire dual citizenship with the USA or does one need to renounce their Canadian citizenship? I'm not exactly keen on giving up my citizenship no matter what is being offered on the other side of the border.
If it is possible - and the company is 'requesting me' - any idea on a timeframe this whole process can take? Would i need to get a greencard, then years later, apply for naturalization? Is this something i shouldn't even worry about if i'm not willing to give up my CDN identity?
