Can a car dealership call my place of employment without my knowledge to inform my employer of a dispute that occurred between myself and the dealership? My work information was not given when i took my truck in for service that resulted in the dispute; it was only given when i bought my truck. Also, my employer has threatened to fire me because I represent the company and that is not what they want, can that happen?

I don't know of any law that prohibits the car dealership from calling your employer. I'm not saying I think it was an appropriate thing for them to do, but that doesn't make it illegal.

The same with the threatened termination. It may or may not be appropriate action to take, but it's not prohibited by law based on the scant information we have.

I would expect that you would be eligible for unemployment.

If its not true and your fired sue the dealership and the employer.
