car loan i got stuck with

Illinois Divorce in Oct 2006: i got my car (paid off), he got his, but my name was on loan for credit reasons. divorce agreement said he was to get my name off car loan w/in 1 year. he couldn't because he's unemployed but said that he was getting a disability settlement and would pay it off then. FF to july 08, he calls and tells me to come get car and pay for it or it was going to be repossesed. my name was still on loan. payoff was 14k, blue book was 7k. he was behind on payments. i could not afford to keep paying on it, plus the insurance so i took his car and my paid off car and traded in for 1 car that was less $ per month. trade in value on my car and his was 10k, 4k shy of payoff on his car. my question, since he was in contempt by not following the divorce agreement of taking my name off his car, can i recoup the 4k from him once he gets his disability settlement?
