I had a car repossessed about 3 years ago. My financial situation currently is unbearable and I can't make any payments and now they are getting ready to garnish my wages. HELP! What do I do.

Sounds like bad new for you my friend. Your best option is to call them and try to work out a payment arrangement. A judgment against you is good for 20 years, and can be easily renewed for another 20. They are not going to simply forget about the money you owe them. Now there are 2 possible situations in your case:

1. They have filed for an order to garnish your wages. Chances are they are not going to w/draw it at this point. After all, the order will gaurentee them the money.
***You are not without recourse!!! File an objection with the court to the garnishment. Although not having enough money is not a defense to a wage garnishment, if you include a list of your expenses along with your paystub, the judge can consider it and possibly reduce the amount of the garnishment. Usually, the garnishment amount will go from 10% to 5%. However, you will still end up paying this.

2. You think they are going to garnish. Call them and work out a plan ASAP. If they have to garnish your wages instead of you making voluntary payments- the garnishment will go through a court officer who becomes entitled to 10%. That extra 10% is made up by you. So whatever you owe on the judgment, increase it by 10%. A good incentive for you to make voluntary payments.
