car tax laws

I had a car repossesed in April of 2007 and have been making payments on the balance. I just recently called the office to find out my balance only to find that I owe $500 more than I thought I should. I was told that I owe property taxes from 2007. That CT law states that I have to pay for the entire year of 2007 even if I didn't have the car for the entire year (which doesn't make any sense because if I sold my car I wouldn't be paying for the entire year)! And that I just got charged in July '08 for 2007 taxes. Can someone please help to clarify this for me and tell me if I should be responsible for an entire years worth of taxes for a car that was repossesed in April and resold!! Thanks in advance.

Who told you about the balance owed? The state of CT or the loan company that you financed the car through?

The loan company told me about the owed taxes. I never received any paperwork, and even after talking to them, still have not received anything in writing. I was told that I was responsible for these taxes and they would send a letter, but that was a month ago. Never received anything from the state of CT.
