So i drive a 03 350z, i was on the highway in a 55, going 65. I went around a bend/curve on the highway and it was about 30' degree's out, hit a section of black ice my traction control kicked in and it forced me to lose control. I hit the median knocked over 3 small tree's, a street sign, and than my car rolled over the concrete barrier. The car is totalled.

about 2 days ago a cop shows up, and issues me a ticket for careless driving, stating he couldnt find out exactly what it would fit under, so he said he just marked it as careless driving a 427$ fine.

yes the speed of 65 in a 55 was careless. but that wasnt what caused me to have the accident. I have summer tire's on that are TERRIBLE in the cold weather. It wasnt a turn or anything justa sligh bend in the road. Is there any way i could fight this?

Edit: Nobody actually saw me crash or told the police i was speeding. I admited to the police i was going 60-65ish. That was all that was said. No cop saw it happen, they arrived when a motorist who came upon my car after the wreck called hte police and reported the accident.

You can try to fight it but I doubt it will do much good. You are expected to drive cautiously in bad weather and you admit you were speeding. If you would have been more careful and driving slower, which you should be in very cold weather and ice, you might have avoided the accident.

If you had bad tires and still drove in bad weather, you still helped contribute to the accident.

I do understand that i was driving carelessly.

Is this a forum for advice on moral delema's or the right's and wrong's a person does? No.

It's a free legal advice forum. Yes i alerady know it was wrong that i was speeding, that is understood. I want to know if LEGALLY there is any way for me to get out of this, or get around it.

You will not find much for legal advice on a free internet forum.

If you want to find out how you can get out of this, see an attorney.
