I recently was going a little quick down an on ramp and I happened to be dumped onto the highway right in front of an officer. (This was at night so I didn't notice him). After getting on the highway I see a light turn green and the car in my lane was just starting to move. I didn't want to slow down behind him so I flick on my blinker and get around him. I then get pulled over a couple seconds later. The cop didn't know how fast I was going so he couldn't give me a speeding ticket. He did however cite me with "careless driving" because I was too close to the car in front of me when I changed lanes. I do not agree with these charges at all. I will not be able to afford my insurance if this goes on my record, although I have no previous offenses. My question is... since careless driving is ineligible for traffic school is there a chance I can get it lowered to something like negligent driving so I can take traffic school? Also how would I go about doing this.
