hi,
I was recently involved in an accident. The story goes like this... there was a car that was involved in an accident, and he shouldn't have been driving that car, but he was still driving it. His car died in the middle of the road and the car in front of me stopped just short of hitting him. I could not stop in time, and I rear-ended the car in front of me. The police gave me a ticket for careless driving because of the accident. It was raining and dark, I wasn't speeding. Should I fight the ticket? What are my chances of not getting any points?

thanks

You can try, but the idea of the law is this:

Your speed always has to be adjusted to traffic conditions so that you are able to stop in time if there is something blocking the road. If it is rainy and dark, you have to drive slow. So if you crash into something, no matter why it is on the road, the law presumes that you were too fast or did not keep the required distance to traffic in front of you and therefore were careless.
