I have a bit of a unique situation. My boyfriend and I were renting a room for a lady out of her house. She also lived there with her boyfriend and her 18 year old daughter. One day after my boyfriend and I had both left for work we BOTH noticed that we were missing money and some giftcards that I was given for a baby shower present from Kohls. I contacted my grandma who did some digging and found out that one of my giftcards had been used. I was contacted by the state police and given a grainy photo. It looks very much like her and is wearing the same thing as our landlord when she left. My question is I know that I have a case to file a claim against my stolen gift cards but what can be done about his stolen money? I was told that the evidence from the department store can not be used as evidence against her for the stolen cash... is this true?
