Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Caught shop lifting CA

I was just caught shop lifting in a huge retail store. I stole an item that was $40 it was really stupid i know and i don't even know what i was thinking because i paid $65.00 for other items. I also had my 3 year old with me. Theft prevention lead me into a back room took a report , i signed a civil letter, the police were called i received a citation from the officer and read my rights, the officer said i was going to be arrested, the box was marked under "booking required" because i had my child they told me to come in for finger printing another day. I decided to ask if i could pay for the item, and did.

I'm worried if there is going to be jail time involved?

Not likely but without knowing the penal code under which your charged its hard to say

The code was 484/484 Pc Petty Theft, I don't mind whatever cost's i will half to pay, i just have been worried if there is jail time involved, i'm so embarrassed by what happened. I just want this to all be over with. I'm not going to get a lawyer, I don't care about anything except going to jail. Thank you.

Jail is one. Criminal record that will haunt you for life is another. If you cannot afford an Attorney request a Public Defender. In mean time start calling Lawyers many offer free consultations. During these meetings ask about Diversion
