I'm 17 years old and i live in , PA. I was caught shoplifting $11.00 worth or merchandise. The guy took me to this room and my aunt came and signed the papers and they let me go. The guy said that as long as I pay the fine which will be sent by mail, this won't go on any records. Does anyone have an idea of how much the fine is going to be? How long until I get the letter in the mail? Is the letter going to have my name or my parents' name on it? Do i have a court date or no? Thanks a lot.

Re: Caught shoplifting at Store Name in Pennsylvania??

It appears no criminal charges were filed. So no, no court. The fine is Civil Demand it will not show up on any criminal background check. My guess (its a guess not intended to be guarantee) you fine will be around $100.00

Okay I'm just wondering thank you for your help

Re: Caught shoplifting at Store Name in Pennsylvania??

They have no one other than you to address letter to so yes it should have your name. Look for a letter with name of a Law Firm on it. That is who is most likely to be sender

So the fine came and it was $160.00 and I paid and everything is fine. I was just wondering will this affect me getting a job in retail?

If the store that stopped you is a subscriber to the retail theft database yes it could. Also keep in mind that sometimes these Lps often go to other stores to work or shop. If they see you and recall your face the cat could be out of the bag as well.

The retailer you stole from uses USMA which is a theft database. You can guarantee that you will not get a job at any retailer that subscribes to that database for 7 years. Most major retailers use it - this includes the store you were caught in and the sister store SEArs.
