My sister and I were caught shoplifting earlier today. The police were not called in exchange for names and photos of other people that we know that shoplift.

We gave them three names and sent pictures to the security mans phone. My sister had about 220 dollars worth of stuff. I had about 280 dollars worth of stuff. They made us sign something saying we would not return.

They took our pictures. They said we would receive something in the mail telling us to pay a certain amount. How much should we be expecting to have to pay? Can they still involve the police in anyway?

I am a retail theft consultant and answer questions like yours daily.

Anywhere from $50.00 to $1000.00 expect yours closer to the high mark than the low
Can they still involve the police in anyway?
Yes so don't provoke them to do so by not paying Civil Demand

More Civil Demand here http://www.parentnook.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=161&t=3934

By the way naming store on public forum was bad idea

Okay, it looks like they'll let you get away with paying what's called a DEMAND LETTER.
The details will come as the security investigator explained.
Until then, stop talking.
If you pay them the money they demand (maybe $500 EACH), they'll forget this.
Don't worry, they'll let you make payments until you've paid in full.
Also, don't return to ANY of those stores, EVER.
Don't ask why, just STAY AWAY.

OP, I removed the name of the store in the title of your thread for your protection.
