I'm 22 years old and I was caught shoplifting a $5 pair of earrings. I was actually bored and I've been roaming the Mall pretty much doing nothing. I was asking myself how good is the security here, like an idiot, I decided to test them out and tried to find the cheapest thing to steal, which were the earrings.
Well, I got caught, even though I thought I did a good job. I asked them, as wer'e heading to their office, when did they catch me? and they said they couldn't say. Anyways I signed some paper and I was purely honest with them. They said they will send a fine and they let me go. They didn't call the police or even ban me, they even said I can keep shopping.
I realized as I headed home how stupid my curiosity is. Anyways, my question is how much of a fine should I be expecting for shoplifting a $5 item? What else should I expect?
