I was caught shoplifting 30 some odd dollars worth of stuff yesterday from a store. A police man came and took some information but did not charge me with anything. It is the store who filed a complaint against me and told me I would have to go to court. I'm wondering what kind of charges I will be facing and how long will I have to wait to get this expunged from my record? Please help, I'm very scared and know nothing about this stuff.

All you need to do is wait.
Time is your friend.
Keep your mouth shut, plead not guilty, ask for a lawyer, do exactly as your lawyer instructs.
If you've never been in trouble before, this will disappear one day.
When?
Doesn't matter, wait, be patient!
Do what I've advised, and this will one day be an unpleasant memory, as long as you don't get "happy fingers" and steal again!
In the meantime, stay outta additional trouble.
