Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Caught Shoplifting in Arizona

I'm 22, and I was caught shoplifting some make-up. It valued under $15. It was my first time, I have nothing on my record. They called the police, they didn't arrest me. They gave me some papers to sign saying that I'd be at my court date next week. The store did not ban me, they just said if I did it again then I would be banned from that store and all their other stores. What's going to happen to me? I am so scared. It's my first offense, and I don't want one moment of pure stupidity to ruin my life. I'm also in the process of joining the Air Force. I looked it up and from what I can tell, I'm still eligible but I'll have to get a waiver signed, is this true? How bad is this going to effect me in the future? What's going to happen in court? Am I going to have this on my record now? I need answers! I can't believe I did this. It still feels like I'm in a bad dream.

Unless you get diversion you will have a criminal record. You will also receive a civil demand that needs paid.

Its not what is going to happen but what you can make happen. Talk to your Attorney and ask if ACD or Diversion is available in your case. If so this will help protect your record

The OP has apparently had his situation resolved by now since post is from 2010 but agree that an attorney is always best to talk to in a situation like this to see what he/she can do for you.
