Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Caught shoplifting in CA

I was caught shoplifting about two months ago and I'm so ashamed. I have an arraignment scheduled soon. It's my first offense and I have never been in trouble with the law before, not even traffic tickets. At the time I was caught I was arrested and given a ticket and was let go within an hour. I am really scarred and don't know what to do. I want this to be over with but I don't know if pleading guilty at the arraignment is a good idea. I had just been married a couple weeks before the indecent and I haven't changed my name legally but I plan on doing so. At the time, I presented my I.D.with my maiden name. If I am found guilty will this be on my record with my maiden name or will it still show up even when I do change my name. Please help....I am really confused.
 
Do not plead guilty! If you do Judge will sentence you right then and you will likely have a record. Consult an Attorney ask if Diversion is available in your county

I think you and my friend almost have the same exact case...pls. update me on how you will do this...

esp. with the diversion program...

and have yo received the letter yet? My friend's fee is 500!!!!!! ridiculous!!!!

i have a friend who recently stole a less than $50 in store name market just this september...and the security company is charging him $500!!!! mY goodness gracious.. where in the world will he get that. He is seriously broke and doesnt have money.

The letter he received from the security company (company name removed) gave him 10days or else that's going to be on his records. We have been trying to call them everyday and they are not calling back.

We wanted to discuss with them "alternative payment options" like for example, every week he pays this certain amount...

Pls. help us! His last 10days-grace-period is today..

and CAN the antishoplifting class help him? How about community service...

We even gave a letter to the manager in store name market saying he can do any responsibility around the area without any pay for atleast 2 weeks or so... i do hope it works...
