I am 18 years old, and was caught shoplifting a little over $100 worth of goods from a store. I had the items in my pockets, and they were cut from the packages. As I was leaving, I was brought into a room in which I gave back all the stolen materials, and soon after 2 police officers came in, cuffed me, and brought me to the station. This is my first offense, never even had a parking ticket. I'm not exactly sure as to how I should plea. I told my parents the day it happened, and I wrote apology letters to the store manager, the 2 police officers, and the prosecutor. Should I still plead guilty? My dad talked to me about it and said, if I drag this thing out my sentence would be harsher because I'd be taking up the judge's time. What should I do?
Thank you.
