Yesterday I got caught shoplifting hair care products from [Store]. It was 23 dollars worth of stuff and the loss prevention took me into the back room, had me fill out paperwork, and then the police came and gave me a ticket. They were all very nice to me because they said I seemed like a good kid who just lost their way. I am a good girl. I just made a stupid decision that is possibly going to ruin my life now. I was supposed to ship out for the Navy Monday morning (tomorrow) and now I don't know what to do. My recruiter said that I might get disqualified for this if I don't get it taken care of soon. It's a Class C misdemeanor of theft under $50.
How long does it take for theft to be filed in the system, and would the judge be more lenient on me if they knew I was about to go into the military? And how much is a fine? I'm scared and don't know what to do. I know I shouldn't have done what I did. I can't even explain how embarassed and ashamed I am, but the last thing I want is for this to keep me from getting my life together finally.
