Hi I am an international student going to school in U of I. Last month I was out with my friends in a bar. While I was holding a beer walking around, suddenly a cop went up to me and check my ID. The cop took my friend's id which I used to get into the bar. Then he gave me a drinking ticket and took away my friend's id. I was pretty cooperative all the time and the ticket was $290, which is the minimum.
Right now, I have already paid for the drinking ticket, as well as met with the hearing officer and took some alcohol awareness class which the University required me to. I was issued a University Reprimand.
I have one final question regard this issue. The cop said that he will send the confiscated id to the Secretary of State. I thought I would receive a letter from the Secretary of State regarding this case and issue me a fine. But I still haven't received the letter yet. Right now my questions are:
1) Will this case be record on my criminal record?
2) When will I receive the letter from the Secretary of State, and and would be the punishment for it?(Cause I read some information on the Internet, saying that punishment for fake id could be in jail)
3) How will this affect me when I am applying for internships?
Thanks guys,
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the United States.
