hello to all who read this. now this is the whole story. i moved from North Dakota to California. Now when i lived in ND i got a cell phone that was on a national plan. i than moved to Ca. now when under this nation plan i called the company and was told that i would not incur roaming charges because there was a "tower" about 45 miles away.I did get her name and i know the date. I was than looking for work and decide that i was going to cancel the phone do to financial reasons. Now i was not under a contract i have been with the company for 3 years now and so i was not obligated to stay. when i called in to cancel i got the same person i talked to originally and was told that i could downgrade my phone and that i would get 2 months free. i than asked would i be roaming and would there be any charges. she said the only charge i would receive is if i text messaged people due to that i did not have that on my plan or if i went over my minutes. 2 months pass by and i never went over my minutes and i did text message but that was 6 times. which would be at 10 cents each 60 cents. which i was prepared for. i than call the company at the end of the 2 months and ask for them to cancel my phone in which they did. i than ask if there is any payments or anything due. the person on the phone said no there is not. I thank her for her time and hung up. 2 weeks later i go to look at my bank account and there is a $999.75 charge from the company and now i am in the red because of it. i know have bills coming up and i call them up and they said that since i was in a roaming area that i was charged for the whole time using my phone. Now this company never sent me a bill and they never even told me and also when into my account and toke the money. the only way i could think they could do that is when i first got the phone i had auto pay for 1 month and canceled that and payed the phone on time never late by myself online. so my ? what can i do. can i sue for defamation if my credit report goes bad not to mention can i charge interest for the bills that i might be late on and how can i make them give my money back and pay for the finance charges that i will incur because of insufficient funds. PLEASE HELP IM LOST.
