I have a little girl who is 8 years old and I have sole custody with no visitation rights to her father.
I have contemplated changing my little girls last name to my maiden name for several years now, she has no contact with her dad and she is always surrounded by my family which she obviously identifies with.
How do I go about changing her name, what is the cost and has anyone done this?
Also I should mention I am engaged to be married next year and my fiance asked her if she wanted his name, would he have to adopt her for this process?
She has asked me a few times if she can have my last name, and now that I am getting married she is concerned about not having matching names.
I just want her to feel connected to her family and make the right choice.
