I had a line of credit from MBNA back in 2000. It went "Key Derogatory" in Oct 2002. I lived in the state of Oregon when the line of credit was opened, and now live in Pennsylvania. Recently, I was contacted by Asset Acceptance LLC about this debt, which is the 3rd company to have bought it, and was told that if I didn't pay them, I would be taken to court to have my wages garnished. I told them I would not pay this debt because of the circumstances as to why the debt went unpaid in the first place. They told me that there was no SoL on this debt, and that they would take legal action if I did not pay. I told them to call me back in 2 weeks and I would talk to them about it then, and never answered when they called. This was back in April of 2007. Today, I received a letter, after numerous unanswered phone calls from them, saying that they woul settle for 65% of the amount. My question is, am I still liable for this debt, as it was charged off originally in 2002, and has since been sold to 2 other companies ending with this one? Each time it is sold, a new company reports it to the CRA's. Is this debt still collectible or has the SoL expired for this debt? I greatly appreciate any answers anyone has. Thank you in advance.

Asset Acceptence is one of the worst for collections. If the debt was from OR then the statute of limitations is 6 years from when the account first went unpaid.
Also:
You never had an account with Asset Acceptence, Nor have you given them any writen contract, therfore, How can they sue you when you never had an agreement with them in the first place.
I hope this helps you.........Good luck.
