My jurisdiction is: California
On the night before Valentine's Day, I got one hotel room for myself and my girlfriend and another for our friend and his girlfriend. The agreement was that he would pay me back for their room at a later time, which isn't the issue. The next morning I checked out and signed a paper stating that there would be no additional charges to my card (unfortunately, I didn't receive a copy). Our friends decided to take over our room, being the better of the two, and stayed a few more nights. Unknown to me, they skipped out on a portion of their bill so the hotel charged me an additional $250. I'm a poor, college student so that sent my bank account into the negatives. Is there any action I can take to get that money back? I was under the impression that no matter what, I wouldn't be responsible for the room after we had left and it is no fun living off of three dollars for almost two weeks and paying for my "friends'" mistakes.
