I shoplifted a couple things at a retail store the other day, I admit I was totally in the wrong, however as I was leaving the store I turned around and saw a man following me to my car. He did not identify himself and I started to walk faster and so did he. (I was attacked in Fl. a while ago and still have mental scars) So I freaked and ran, he ran after me still not identifying himself, chased me across a major roadway, saying stop running, when I catch you I'm gonna take you down. After running as far as I could I fell. Police surrounded me, come to find out he was a loss prevention guy. However, before the police arrived I did not know who he was. I was scared. I was charged and arrested. Was the policy to chase me like that??

Without knowing the store or having a copy of their policy, we cannot say whether that was store policy or not.

But, even if it WAS a violation o store policy to follow a suspect, it would have NOTHING to do with your crime. It would be a personnel issue for the store to address internally.

Following you is a lot safer for their people than trying to tackle and detain you.
