Checking Account Lookup

this is a follow up to my previous post, i figured its a new topic now..

i did find the last check we wrote to the landlord, however, their account is not valid anymore (closed)

is there any way to look up bank accounts on someone?

I see on the internet there are services that do the research (but they want alot of money)

any reasonably priced alternatives/ideas on finding out where soemone banks?

Banking info is private and not accessable by private citizens. Now if there is a suspcion of a crime Police might be able to access this info but not a private citizen
