Here is the situation.

My boyfriend is currently paying $500 a month for support for one 2 year old child, and $300 a month for day care. His ex went through court to get this, however at the time he couldn't afford a lawyer. What are the rules about the day care? Does he have a chance if he hires a lawyer to get out of paying the $300? I don't think this is right, $500 seems like enough to support a 2 year old.

He will have to google his states child support guidelines to see what it says on chid support and daycare. He can certainly ask to claim the child on taxes, and to claim the child care credit for the babysitter. He should be asking for the babysitters SS# so he can write this off on his taxes.

he can certainly run his order by an attorney to see what they say.

We live in Canada actually. Thank you for the quick reply. What percentage do you think he would receive back in taxes for the child care?

Since you are in Canada I have no idea what Canadian tax law, or child support laws say. Sorry.
