Child Custody dispute and issues with my attorney

I have a friend who is having a custody dispute with an ex-boyfriend that has been going on for over a year. Original she had an ex parte order filed against her for domestic violence and the charges were dropped. The courts ordered a guardian ad litem to represent the child in the case. The guardian was appointed in January of 2006. The father of the child was appointed temporary custody in January 2006 pending a final judgement by the Guardian ad Litem. My friends lawyer has been pushing her to submit a final judgement, since May of 2006, as to who will be the primary caregiver to the child. She after "so-called" contact from my friends attorney on a monthly basis, never submitted a final report. In January of 2007, my attorney finally sent the guardian a letter requesting she withdrawal from the case. I feel that this should have been done far sooner, and that my lawyer has been procrastrinating, and basically not doing the job I have been paying him to do. I am at a loss as to what to tell her. As far as I am concerned, she should sue the attorney she has now for what she has paid him, and for the stress she has been put under because this case has been floating in the courts for so long. I am in need of some suggestions on how to handle this situation, so that my friend may have this case resolved and have her daughter back. Thank you for your help.

Why do YOU have an attorney?

Who are you in all this?

The attorney is not mine. The attorney I am speaking of is my friends. I am a good friend of the person trying to get primary custody of her daughter. I am trying this forum out because I believe that the people on this site may be able to assist me and her in this case.

Okay, you have me confused.

I wish you would rewrite this without using pronouns.

In any event, if a lawyer is not doing his job, then fire him.
