My son who is 16 attends school full time from 8 till 2. And works at McDonalds part time.was told he had to work from 2:00 to closing which is 2 in morning.I have talked to he's manager of McDonalds.and told they would take care of it,yet when he works for this other manager is told he must stay until 2:00.I am not prejudice but my son tell me that Jim and another employe are led out, they are both Caucasian and he's boss is Mexican.the other day he had his wind crying a at work.I don't think that he is being to them what I am most end about is him losing he's job.Recently they changed owners of he's work place.does he have to stay until 2:00.he was hired as part time if so why are they not giving him full time benefits when he works 40 + hrs a week.

Just a footnote: I worked for a few years in the corporate office of a nationwide retail chain that employed quite a few minors at that time. I quickly learned that there is a bewildering array of state, county, city and even school district rules that govern what minor employees can do and when they can work. That company eventually set 18 as the minimum hiring age.

Years ago my 17 year-old daughter frequently worked until closing (often 2AM) at a local movie theater also in TX. About the same time I started turning grey. In a retail setting as in the OPs post, the closing crew may be picked on the basis of availability, seniority, or simply who the manager has confidence in since they are responsible for the security of the store.
