My jurisdiction is: New York

My Fiance has a daughter with a woman he wasn't married to but is obligated to pay child support. What are my rights as his wife and how can I protect myself under law so she doesn't come after me for child support or any property that I may have. Currently everything is still in my name. My main concern is my co-op and other personal assets that may possibly be deemed his once we are married. She lives in Florida, where he used to reside, and he has recently relocated to NY.

Thanks in advance for your help:)

You can keep your assets separate from marital assets, and the income from those assets can remain separate as well.

The child support obligation is based on the father's income, not his spouse's, so your income should not be a factor in the child support.
