ive been a green card holder for almost 10 years now. a year ago i got a misdemeanor for shoplifting. now im trying to apply for citizenship and ive consulted with 2 immigration attorneys, they said i have to wait and have another 5 years between me and the conviction to be abble to apply. But then i forgot to mention if it would make any difference if i got my record dismissed because mine is dismissed. would there be any change? can i apply? ive heard that it wouldnt matter. i need clarification on this.
