Hello, I made the stupidest decision of my life and was caught shoplifting in the state of Georgia with the total amount of $130. I was brought back to the room and filled out paper work with the LP. They decided to not involve police because it was 5:00 rush traffic in Atlanta and the police department said it would take over an hour since it was not an "emergency." I guess I got very lucky there. I was told by the LP that I would be receiving a civil demand and if I paid it everything would be fine.

It has been 5 weeks and I still have not received the civil demand. Is there any chance that I will not get one?

How long on average do they take?

Is there any chance of further troubles (criminal or civil) after I pay the civil demand?

What is the maximum they could demand in Georgia?

Thank you in advance.

These letters can arrive in days, weeks even, months. Long as you gave teh correct address you will get one. There is no reason for the store to not request it. Now if you gave wrong info and they cannot find you several things can happen none are good

If you provided the correct info then the letter is likely coming. You can always call the store ask for the number of their Civil Recovery service. Then call them and ask where your letter is

But i'm scared...like i'm still holding out hope that MAYBE they lost mine or didn't file or forgot or something. I'm not relying on that but I'm holding out hope. What is the average time that it takes for a civil demand letter to arrive?

There is no set time. Even if I gave you average time it means nothing. As stated it can be months! If your that curious contact store and ask for number of their Civil Recovery service
