Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Civil Demand, No police

Hi, i would like to thank you for taking time out of your day to help people out in stressfull situations such like my own. I recently got in trouble at a retail store and was taken to the back of the store with the LP people. I signed a sheet saying that i would not tresspass on their property for a year, but they said i could call the LP office and probably get that lowered. They took my information, address, name, social security number, and some other bits of info. I was pretty nervous at this point, but the guys in the back told me that they were not going to bring a police officer, since my total amount was 4.98$. They gave me a sheet of paper and the top of it states, "Our company elects to pursue our rights and remedies avalible to us by civil law, here is a copy of the statue. This action is separate from any criminal proceedings that the local authorities may file against you". Does that mean that if the police were called in that i could have criminal proceedings. It means they are currently choosing to seek a civil solution to problem. This mean you will get a letter from the stores Lawyer saying you owe $$$ amount of dollars. My guess yours will be between $50.00 and $100.00. That action si seprate from any criminal case that "might" be filed. However they already told you they would not and if you pay they wont be provoked to file
 
after reading further into the sheet i was givin it states that the fine can range from 100 to 250. I have a couple of questions. Will this whole ordeal go to any court or police? When, and if i receive a letter and they ask for a settlement, what would be the best forum of payment?
 
As stated its very unlikely they will file a criminal charge unless provoked by you. We cannot say for certain but I would say theres a 90% chance they wont. The best form of payment will be mentioned in letter
 
ok thank you so much, you have really helped me out.. Also to add to my story, i was very polite with the LP and they didnt really seem to be that upset with me, other than the occasional, "it was just 5 dollars man". They also seemed to joke around with each other to try and get my nerves called.
 
Can I share with your thoughts? I'm glad I felt connected about your experience mc101. Because I do have a little case filed by a police, because I hesitated to agree with their idea to collect something. Anyway I am a businessman in nature. They are forcing me to pay some extra taxes. But when I didn't agree with that they look for some case for me. I ask for the advice from my legal adviser, and they tell me that my action was good to them. We are going to fight until we reach court.
