Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft civil demand with no proof?

Whats the likelihood of getting sued for not paying a 150 dollar civil demand? Its a civil matter right? I didnt steal anything..I promise they have no proof. I paid for what I did via court and their 1st civil demand I refuse to pay a civil fine for something I didn't do..that they discovered was missing the same day..but found nothing.

Its a crap shoot and there is much more they can do besides sue you. If they have no proof why did you pay court? Not paying can carry serious life altering consequences

I paid for what I stole. They just accused me for stealing more than what I did. They searched me and saw I didnt have any more. I paid for my mistake.

You paid court for your mistake not store. These are two seperate actions. The court fine was your criminal fine. That money went to city/county etc. civil demand (state law) is a "civil" action and those monies go to retailer. You can choose to ignore letter(s) and fine will rise (maybe triple) they can also sue you in court and win. then you will owe the inflated fine plus legal fees and court costs. They can also send a negative report to credit reporting agencies which can cause you harmin many ways. Last but not least they can report this failure to payu to court. If part of your probation terms was to pay this then you have violated terms of probation and could face jail. Of course they could blow it off entirely. Like I said its a crap shoot, are you a gambler?

No, I paid one civil demand sent from them. 150 dollars. Then they send another with a different amount stolen and different case number,but it all occured on the same day.

I don't think you understand me. I am guessing (its only a guess) that either the first letter or this one might be an error. contact the law firm and explain what happened. At this point until you find out what happened and why there isnt much else to do

Oh no I do understand. It could be a mistake. I just wondered if that was legal. 2 demands for one day, same store.
