Here is the situation,
I unknowingly misused my company's employee discount and was fired for the incidents. It was not my fault because the merchandise was bought with my mom's credit card and I live with her. Now they have filed a civil penalty against a shoplifter filing but it says if I fail to pay that they will file a lawsuit against a shoplifter. Is this a scare tactic? What options do I have other than paying? I do not believe I am in the wrong because the merchandise was paid for by my mother and then I paid her for the merchandise because I can't get credit. Thanks for any help.
