So I applied for a job and got an interview, well a week later I got a class B misdemeanor (August 16) & it was after I had already filled out the background check information (August 14). I just went to court yesterday and got my sentencing a fine & that was it. The job is waiting for my background information to come to them the lady said it can take 5-7 days to get back to them & she said for me to call them later today or tomorrow. I was wondering if the class B misdemeanor will show up on the back ground check now & if it will stop me from the job?

So should I tell them about it after I am hired? I really need this job!
Usually how long does it take to show up by chance?

How quickly these thing show up on background checks I can't say. Far as telling your employer thats your call. I merely saying if they find out later they could terminate you

You got sentencing and fine. What was outcome? Are you guilty of what? Did you apply for or was granted Diversion or the like? What exactly happened in court? This important because if you got Diversion or ACD then there may be no conviction on your record now or later

I plead no contest to retail theft item was under $8.
My fine was $550 and I'm on probation for 1 year and had to submit a set of finger prints to the police.

What happens after the one year thats where I am going? If you got Diversion or somethng like it your case might be "dismissed" after successful completion of probation. If so your in the clear. If not then like Admin says your employer can fire you if and when he finds out

The judge didnt really say what happens after 1 year. He just said I need to make min payments a month for the fine and I will be on probation for 1 year and there are to be no criminal records during that time. I don't think it was dismissed.

You need to find out! If case is dismissed once you complete probation your fine

Must I do everything for you!? Either contact the court or the Attorney who defended you if you do not have any paperwork in regards to your sentence.
